Family Friendly Restaurants in Boston
If you’re travelling to Boston with your family, be sure to check out one of the many family friendly restaurant options. Not only will they serve up some delicious dishes, but they will provide all members of your party with an enjoyable dining experience.
Where to Dine with Families
Dining can be a memorable part of your Boston trip for any family member. With everything from seafood to pizza, Chinese to pub fare, Boston has no shortage of restaurants. With so many options to choose from, it is important to take into consideration the needs of your family. There are several restaurants that specialize in kid-friendly menus, and many with atmospheres that will be fun and comfortable for children and adults alike. Many of Boston's most popular restaurants can become very crowded, so you may want to make reservations, especially for dinner, in advance. Some neighborhoods, such as downtown, or other busy commercial areas may even require lunch reservations or have a wait to be seated.
Downtown Dining Options
Dinning in Downtown Boston is a popular option for families because of it's proximity to the city’s main attractions. Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market offer up many stores and restaurants. Restaurants in these markets range from low-key food courts and sandwich shops to sit down restaurants. A great option for casual family-style food with the ambiance of a proper Italian eatery is Maggiano's Little Italy, where they specialize in hosting large groups. The Purple Shamrock is another great family-friendly option, as it is just steps from the Freedom Trail and serves homey pub food with an Irish influence.
Back Bay Dinning Options
The Back Bay neighborhood, located just on the other side of Boston Common from Downtown is another family friendly location. The Back Bay's location right on the Charles River lends itself well to family friendly seafood. Two such restaurants are the Atlantic Seafood Company, and the more laid-back Summer Shack Restaurant. The Summer Shack offers up fresh seafood with a seasonal menu. For those who would prefer a meal that is more turf and less surf, there are plenty of other options in the area.
North End Dinning Options
For a quick and casual but memorable meal take the kids to the famous Pizzeria Regina in Boston’s North End. This Boston historic pizza establishment has been in business since 1926. The restaurant is run by the third generation of the Polcari family and frequently rated the number one pizza in Boston amongst locals and tourists alike.
Cambridge Eating Options
Healthy and fresh eats can be found at Full Moon in Cambridge, where kids’ meals are served with a side of fruit and vegetables. Kids will love both the food and play area at this restaurant. For an upscale meal that still caters towards the entire family try the ArtBar located inside the Royal Sonesta Hotel. This restaurant features a unique collection of modern art to look at while you dine.
Waterfront Eating Options
The waterfront area is a popular place for families to dine due to its proximity to the Boston Children's Museum. For a fine dinning experience try Aura located in the Seaport Hotel. Despite its upscale atmosphere, the restaurant is family friendly. For a quick bite or sweet treat try Flour Bakery and Cafe. This delicious cafe serves breakfast and lunch in addition to fresh out of the oven pastries.
