St. Patrick’s Day in Boston
Home to one of the richest Irish cultures in America, Boston is notorious for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. These celebrations are some of the best ways to explore the city and take in all the Irish history and heritage. The biggest celebration is the St. Patrick’s Day parade in South Boston.
Wear your green and flaunt your Irishness in one of the most Irish towns in America for the most Irish holiday of the year- St. Patrick’s Day. Start out the week at the St. Patrick’s Day with the traditional parade. Featuring Irish specific talents, costumes, music and floats. Appreciate Irish dancing, kilts, music and plenty of Irish goods from merchants along Broadway. Bring family and friends.
After you spend the early afternoon enjoying the parade, venture out into Boston to do other Irish things. There is a great self-guided tour of the Irish Heritage Trail that totals three miles and walks you through downtown Boston and other areas. Some examples are Beacon Hill, Back Bay and the North end; where you will learn about the rich tradition of history and it’s heroes that contribute to Boston’s status as the hub of Irish America.
Stop by the JFK Presidential Library and Museum, named after Boston’s beloved Irishman. There are also several concerts and theatrical events scheduled each year to honor the holiday. Finish your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations with a 21 and over party at one of the many authentic Irish pubs in Boston.
