The Unstoppable Ray Allen

In 1996 Ray Allen was drafted 5th overall to the Timberwolves, then immediately traded to the Bucks. He made his presence immediately, and won the All-Star 3 point competition in 2001. Allen has set many NBA records and in his 15th season, now playing for the Celtics, he doesn't seem to be slowing down at all.

The Unstoppable Ray Allen

After playing for the Bucks and the Sonics, Ray Allen was traded to the Boston Celtics in 2007. This move made him a part of the “Big 3,” alongside Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce. The trio has shared great success, and won the NBA title in 2008. Although the Celtics have had the reputation of being an aging team the last couple years, Ray Allen has proved that age won’t effect his game.

Even as one of the league’s most seasoned veterans, Ray Allen is still among the best shooters in the NBA. Celebrating his 37th birthday in June, Ray has shown that age is just a state of mind. He is still in the top ten in many offensive categories, and is helping lead the Celtics to another playoff birth. Allen has already taken the NBA record of most three-point shots made in a carrier, passing Reggie Miller’s record in 2011. This year he is shooting 63.4% from the three-point line, making him #1 in the league in that category. Ray is also in the league’s top 10 for both total points, and field goal percentage.

Allen has been voted into the NBA All-Star game 10 times, and is well on his way to his 8th appearance in the last 9 years. The Celtics know that they will have to deal with injuries as their players’ age, and the trust Ray Ray to be there every night showing of his incredible work effort and competitive spirit.

While you are in Boston, go to the TD Garden to see one of the NBA’s most successful franchises play in front of thousands of loyal fans. Although Ray Allen does seem to be the most durable player in the league, age will eventually catch up with him, so come watch the master while you can.
